NDIS Consumables - Everything You Need To Know

NDIS consumables are items eligible NDIS participants need to assist them in their day-to-day life.

They can be purchased using the NDIS consumables budget allocated under the funding for their particular NDIS plan.

What are examples of NDIS consumables?

NDIS consumables come under NDIS Core Supports and cover products required on a daily basis to help the user manage their personal disability-related needs.

They must be ‘reasonable and necessary' items, up to a value of $1500.

Higher-level assistive technology- more complex and expensive items, like powered wheelchairs and prosthetics- are not part of the consumables budget.

General grocery items not related to users' disability needs, as well as things like cosmetics and prescription medications, are also not part of the consumables budget.

Where can I buy NDIS consumables?

NDIS consumables can be bought in retail shops, like chemists and hardware stores, as well as online.

On Agency managed plans, you can only purchase consumables from providers registered by the NDIS.

NDIS consumables are a valuable Core Support for many Australians, helping them meet their everyday needs and support their goals.
